NPR Listeners Vote BoH Into "Best of…" List!

NPR’sAll Songs Considered” recently tallied up the votes from their annual “Listeners Pick” poll, where listeners and fans vote for their favorite songs of the year.   This year, Band of Horses’ “Laredo” managed to find itself voted all the way up to the 15th best songs of the year!

I was really keeping a close eye on this poll, as it is arranged by fans and listeners and not by critics.   So, it is for that reason that I think Band of Horses’ sitting comfortably in the top 20 is a great achievement, and maybe a little extra-special given that it was decided by thousands of people from all over the country.

Anyway, this definitely brightened my morning, and I hope it brightens yours, too!

Infinite Arms Begins Appearing on Year-End Lists – How You Can Help It Appear On One More

Good morning everyone!

Infinite Arms has begun appearing on several publications’ year-end “Best Of” lists!  These include (so far) Paste’s, Filter’s, and Q’s “Best of 2010″ lists, not to mention the fact that no less than six KCRW DJs put “Infinite Arms” on their top 10 of 2010 lists (and let’s not forget the Grammy noms).

I really wish I could have made separate “posts” about each piece of recognition that the album is receiving this December, because, make no mistake, each year-end list appearance is a very serious accomplishment for the band and everyone who was involved in the creation of the album.

There is one year-end list coming out very soon, though, that the critics have no say in.  Indeed, it is up to the fans to get their favorite album on this list, and that is All Songs Considered’s Fan Favorites of 2010, for which you should go and cast your vote now.  I am a little late to the game in getting word out about this one.  The list will be announced on the 14th, so there’s only 9 days left to vote, but it is plenty of time to get Infinite Arms included in what I am sure is a very exclusive list, indeed.

I will be listening to NPR that day so I can hear about the results, and in the meantime, I hope you are all having a wonderful day out there!

Deja Vu All Over Again

Someone over at NPR really loves Band of Horses!

“Older” is their song of the day for the second time–you may recall it was their song of the day back in July, too.

Now, maybe I’m just a pious fan, but I can’t help but wonder now if “Older” could do it three time!

At any rate, congrats to the band, and to Ryan Monroe, who originally penned the song on some well-deserved recognition!

Hope you’re all having a great day out there!

Performances From NPR Visit In Minnesota

Remember the Twtitpic from a little while ago that said simply “NPR Studios Minneapolis?”  Well, now we get to hear what was going on while the guys were there!

Minnesota Public Radio just released audio from Band of Horses’ performance, and man it is pretty.  Check out the player below to hear chill-inspiring performances of “Older” and “Laredo.”

Hope y’all are having such a wonderful day out there!

"Older" NPR's Song Of The Day!

Every weekday, NPR allows listeners on the internet to check out a new song by a deserving artist.  Appropriately, they call this daily feature “Song of the Day,” and today Band of Horses’ song “Older” has been selected as such!

You can click here to read the story and listen to the song, but I thought it a nice compliment when NPR wrote that “Older” is “[a]n authentic honky-tonk ballad that conjures memories of The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, [and] helps stake Band of Horses’ claim to the modern-day mantel of ‘Cosmic American Music.’”  I couldn’t agree more :)

I really hope you’re having a great day out there!  Don’t forget, Infinite Arms is only on sale for a very short time more–if you haven’t already, grab your copy here.

NPR Listeners Vote Infinite Arms Into Top 20

NPR listeners were recently asked to vote on their favorite albums of 2010 (so far), and wouldn’t you know, Infinite Arms was voted into the top 20 (number 16, to be exact)!  I think it speaks a lot to the album that it’s been voted to such a high position during a year that has been particularly strong as far as new music is concerned!

You can go and check out the full list here, if you’d like.

Once again, congratulations to the band on an excellent album (not to mention a knock-out tour)!  I have a feeling in another six months we’ll be seeing Infinite Arms on some more “best of” lists.

I really hope you’re having a great day out there!
