Amazon Recognizes Infinite Arms!

Amazon just released its “Best of 2010” album list, and wouldn’t you know it, but Infinite Arms represented itself at #98!

Man, I seriously can’t get enough of these year-end list appearances.  Every time I think the last one’s been published, another one comes out and Infinite Arms represents!

Congratulations again to the band, their families, and everyone who had a hand in making the album such a success!  Hope y’all are having such a great day out there!

Spinner Names Infinite Arms In Year-End List!

…And the hits keep coming!

Spinner recently named Infinite Arms the 30th best album of 2010, yet another feather in the hat of an amazing group of people :)  Now, I am not at all sure that this is how it works, but I really hope that the more lists Infinite Arms appears on, the more momentum the album gains in the minds of the folks making their minds up over at the Grammys.

I will continue to keep an eye out for more year-end list appearances, but in the meantime I hope everyone out there is doing great!

Band of Horses' Austin City Limits Performance Gets Air Date!

Band of Horses just announced that their TV performance from Austin City Limits will be airing this January 15th on PBS!

This is a great opportunity for those of you who may not have had the chance to catch them on tour this past year to see how well the guys rock it live, so make sure to tune in and check it out!

Now, I am pretty sure that exact airing times differ by location, so your best bet is to go to austincitylimits.org and track down your local listings.

There’s no doubt I’ll be watching that night, and I hope you do, too!  In the meantime, I hope everyone out there is having just a wonderful day!

"Laredo" Makes Rolling Stone List!

Band of Horses’ gorgeous track “Laredo,” has been recognized as being the 28th best single of 2010 by Rolling Stone! ‘Tis the season for year-end lists, and I’ve been seeing Band of Horses mentioned on quite a few of them (and don’t forget the Grammy nomination)!

I am so happy for the band, their families, and everyone who had a hand in getting the album out there and keeping the band on the road.  Each one of these year-end list appearances is certainly an accomplishment unto itself, and I cannot think of a better group of people for whom these honors are being bestowed.

I hope you’re all having a wonderful day out there, and I will be back later on tonight with some other really cool news!

Infinite Arms Begins Appearing on Year-End Lists – How You Can Help It Appear On One More

Good morning everyone!

Infinite Arms has begun appearing on several publications’ year-end “Best Of” lists!  These include (so far) Paste’s, Filter’s, and Q’s “Best of 2010″ lists, not to mention the fact that no less than six KCRW DJs put “Infinite Arms” on their top 10 of 2010 lists (and let’s not forget the Grammy noms).

I really wish I could have made separate “posts” about each piece of recognition that the album is receiving this December, because, make no mistake, each year-end list appearance is a very serious accomplishment for the band and everyone who was involved in the creation of the album.

There is one year-end list coming out very soon, though, that the critics have no say in.  Indeed, it is up to the fans to get their favorite album on this list, and that is All Songs Considered’s Fan Favorites of 2010, for which you should go and cast your vote now.  I am a little late to the game in getting word out about this one.  The list will be announced on the 14th, so there’s only 9 days left to vote, but it is plenty of time to get Infinite Arms included in what I am sure is a very exclusive list, indeed.

I will be listening to NPR that day so I can hear about the results, and in the meantime, I hope you are all having a wonderful day out there!

More Video of Bill From the Grammy Nomination Ceremony!

Good morning, everyone!

I just got clued in to this video of Bill from the Grammy nomination ceremony, where he talks about having had no idea Band of Horses was going to be nominated for one of the top awards in music.  You can tell he is definitely excited, and I am, too, for the band and all their families!

I really hope you enjoy the video, and that your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

Video and Comments From Bill About Grammy Nomination!

I just got the heads up on this really cool video featuring Bill Reynolds from the Grammy nomination ceremony.  You can tell he is radically stoked!

In addition, when asked by someone there how he felt about the nomination, he said “Can I cuss? It feels fucking great. I couldn’t tell the guys quick enough that it happened.” (source)

I am really excited for the band, but I just hope that they remember that, should they be selected, there shouldn’t be any cussing during the acceptance speech :)

Hope you’re having a great day out there!

Ben Organizes Benefit For Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation

On Friday, December 10th, members of Band of Horses and the Gainesville, Florida band Holopaw are going to be playing at The Pour House in Charleston, South Carolina to benefit the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation.

Kotowicz, Sub Pop Records’ Vice President of Sales and Director of Marketing, was killed in a car accident in October.  The proceeds from the show on the 10th will go to the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation, which was set up to help out his family.

If you’re in the Charleston area, this is definitely a great opportunity to see some great music and help what could only be described as a noble cause, so go and grab some tickets!

That said, if you’re not near Charleston, there are several other benefit shows and an amazing auction of really rare rock memorabilia (including an autographed copy of Infinite Arms) set up for the Foundation.  A good starting point to find out information about these is the website Sub Pop set up for the Foundation here.

If you have the means, do make sure to donate what you can to help out Mr. Kotowicz’s family.

Thanks very much for reading!

…And the nominees are…

Wow, it has been a long week and a half, and I’ve really missed coming to this site and updating y’all :) Hope everyone is doing wonderful and had an awesome holiday.

There is an awful lot going on in Band of Horses-land right now, and I will have a bunch of posts coming up over the next couple of days, but this I had to get out as quickly as I could.

Band of Horses’ Infinite Arms has been nominated for a Grammy award!  Their nomination is in the “Best Alternative Music Album” category, and stands in some pretty good company, to include The Black Keys and Arcade Fire.

Well, I think it goes without saying who my vote would be for  :)   The actual awards go down on February 13th, 2011 at 8 PM on CBS.  I know where I will be that night:  parked in front of the television with my fingers crossed!

I’ll be back later on today with some more really, really exciting updates, and hope everyone is having a great day in the meantime!

Update 9:15 AM: Many thanks to the kind fan who got in touch to inform me that BoH is actually up for two nominations.  The first, of course, is described above, but the Twilight soundtrack that their song “Life on Earth” appeared on is also nominated in the category of “Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television, or Other Media.”  I will be back later with more updates, and will have my fingers crossed for the band!  Hope you’re having a wonderful day out there!
