Tyler Ramsey treat opening the show on June 11, 2011

Hey yall’!  Talk about a surprise!  When i saw Tyler in November, he performed this song and it was the most beautiful thing I have EVER heard.  Tears were streaming down my face by the close of the song, and as I looked around I knew I wasn’t alone.  After the show I spoke with Tyler and told him about how much I absolutely adored this song.  He told me it was a song he wrote for his grandmother and it was only the 2nd time he had gotten through the song.
I can think of one word while listening to this song.. PASSION.

I have searched ALL OVER for this song and finally a fan has treated us on Youtube with a video from the show in Oosterpoort Groningen on June 11th.   I can only assume this will be on his new album in September and if you’re not familiar with Tyler’s work, I urge you to check it out!!  You are in for a special treat!

I’ll keep an eye peeled for more new music from the current tour for both the band and Tyler!

A perfect end to a wonderful Monday!  Yall’ have a good nite!

Savannah Connect interviews Ben Bridwell before upcoming Savannah Music Festival

As we know, Band of Horses is gearing up for another string of tour dates, and is kicking off with the Savannah Music Festival on April 4th at the Johnny Mercer Theatre.

Bill Deyoung from Connect Savannah had the pleasure of interviewing Ben Bridwell via phone this week.  The interview covers things from what music Ben’s parents listened to while he was growing up, to his preference of live performing, or studio work.

Here are a few of my favorite excerpts from the interview.

When asked about the “pinch myself” element of the band’s success:
Dude, all the time!
Not to mention, after a lot of different lineup changes I finally have this great family that’s in the band now. So even in those annoying moments of traveling and all the headache that goes with everything but the show, I’m surrounded by really great people. So it lessens the sting of any of the bad stuff.

Talking about performing with Pearl Jam:
If you see the video, you can tell I don’t even know where to put my hands, I’m trying to hide my smile, I’m trying not to bust out in tears.

And of course his love for those Georgia Bulldogs:
I can live and die by some of the games, especially football. I shouldn’t get so wrapped up in it. And fortunately, we’ve been kind of bad the past couple years, so I’ve lessened my depressions when we lose a game.

You can catch the full interview here.

Hope you enjoy this really great interview!  We look forward to hearing reviews of the upcoming shows and will be on the lookout for videos and reviews as they come out!

Hope yall’ have a great day out there!  :D

Awesome interview with Creighton Barrett in Barcelona

Check out this awesome interview courtesy of Rock N' Roll Popular 1 Magazine writer and translator, Mia Palau, via his personal blog Hip Replacement.

Creighton talks about everything from the difference in touring in the UK and US, writing for Infinite Arms, releasing the record on their own label, and meeting The Boss & Willie Nelson.

Here are some candid excerpts:

Mia: Are there any songs that you don’t play live?

Creighton: Yeah! There’s a lot, always. It’s just because some stuff just doesn’t work live well, you know, just doesn’t come across well.

Mia: What’s weird to me is you guys are so humble and keep referring to your musical skills as really limited, when you’re one of the best bands at the moment.

Creighton: Well, thanks! Yeah… I don’t know. We try hard [laughter]. We work hard at it, we don’t just sit around.

Mia: Did all of you participate in creating and arranging the songs?

Creighton: Yeah, we all had a hand in it. Bill played a huge part in the arrangement of most everything, like getting string players. The whole idea, the whole mode we switched into was just “anything goes – if we can get our hands on it, bring it in!”

Mia: Do you ever listen to your songs for pleasure?

Creighton: No, I can’t [sighs]. I don’t think any of us really can.

Hope you enjoy this great  interview!  A special thank you to Mia Palau for translating this interview from Spanish to English for our enjoyment!  ;)
