Band of Horses recently unveiled another tune from their upcoming album while playing live. This past Tuesday at the Paramount Theater in Seattle, the guys unleashed this amazing rocker, which is believed to be titled “Knock.” Check out the video of it below. This’ll wake you up in the morning!
I really hope you enjoyed it as much as I did, and that your weekend is off to an amazing start!
Hey everybody! Sometimes life just piles it on–I had to make an unexpected trip out of town, then came home with a dental emergency that has kept me out of the game for the last few days. But I am back now, and man, there is a lot of catching up to do!
I’m going to do my best to get completely up to date in one post, so please forgive me if this one runs long.
At any rate, Band of Horses has been keeping pretty busy as of late, re-launching their tour and kicking it with Conan on TBS.
The tour kicked off in Ogden back on the 4th. Both swaager.com and heyreverb.com fairly agreed that they kicked ass at that venue. In swaager’s review, it was said that:
Denver was the first stop on BOH’s recently announced nationwide tour, and the band’s energy and fans’ excitement made the evening nothing short of magical. Former BOH drummer and Denver crooner, Sara Cahoone, and BOH family members were in attendance and the entire night felt as intimate as a house show with close friends. BOH put on an unforgettable show, and if their performance last Sunday is any indication of how the rest of their tour will go, they certainly don’t need KOL – or anyone else – to headline a tour for them.
You can check out swaager’s review here and heyreverb’s review here.
After that, it was time to roll out to California, where, before playing at the Wiltern, the band played an incredibly beautiful version of “Infinite Arms” on Conan O’Brien’s television show. You can (and should) check out the video for that below:
The band played the Wiltern in L.A. and got a great review from netontommy.com, which you can check out here.
Guys, I am still feeling a little under the weather, so posting might be sporadic for a little while, but I’ll do my best to stay on top of the band’s goings on for you all. In the meantime, I hope your weekend is off to an excellent start, and that you are all happy, healthy, and safe.
Band of Horses just announced that they are going to play Voodoofest in New Orleans this year!
Voodoofest is one hell of an awesome experience, showcasing some of the best talent in the musical world in one of the coolest cities in the world. I was at VF in 2003 and it was freaking incredible!
At any rate, the guys are slated to play on Friday, October 28th, and you can find all of the relevant infos on Voodoofest’s website. If you’re anywhere near NOLA, grab tickets. You won’t be sorry.
We’re all able to listen to the title track from the forthcoming Tyler Ramsey album “The Valley Wind,” which premiered a little earlier today on Sirius and XM.
This tune is well worth your time, so go ahead and give it a listen. This song really, really amped me up for the new album, and I’m sure it will do the same for you.
The title track from Tyler’s new album “The Valley Wind” will premiere on Sirius XMU’s Blog Radio today. Dodge from My Old Kentucky Blog will play it during his set. The show airs from 12-2pm EST on channel 35 on both Sirius and XM.
This is a great chance to tune in and hear what I am sure is going to be amazing music, so if you have XM don’t hesitate to do so.
I already Tweeted about this and put it up on the Ode’s Facebook page, but it’s worth a post on here, too!
Tyler Ramsey now has an official Facebook page, and you can be one of the first people on the interwebs to “like” it (not to mention getting updates on the record release and the subsequent tour). Just click here, then click “like.” Do it!

Ben recently did a couple of interviews on different websites and about wildly varying topics, but they’re both worth posting about, so here it goes: a Ben Bridwell interview double-dose!
First, from the Village Voice’s article on Archers of Loaf, in which Ben pays homage to the rockers from North Carolina:
Even if I had two other hands, I couldn’t count my favorite Archers songs on them. Getting prepared for this [interview] I just listened to “All Hail the Black Market” from the Greatest of All Time EP and that’s always been one of my favorite songs. I actually got to hear them play that the other night, I was surprised they pulled it out.
He continues:
When writing for our first album i was messing around with any instrument i could find and a delay pedal to make up for my lack of ability. I picked up the bass guitar and with the delay, basically ripped off the sound of “White Trash Heroes.” That song was completed and called “Our Swords” on our first album. Probably need to get some royalty checks out to those dudes!
The whole interview (which also includes quotes from Tim Harrington from Les Savy Fav and Craig Finn from The Hold Steady) can be read here, so check it out!
Part two of the interview double dose comes from the Aquarian:
Do you think that because you learned how to play guitar when you started the band that it enhanced your writing, as there were no preconceived playing styles or notions?
Yeah, that was kind of true. It didn’t seem to be my best asset, that I can tell ya (laughs). But now it’s funny. Since I learned how to play a C chord I’m trying to forget it so I can get back to whatever the magic was that I had on the first record… No, not really (laughs). But seriously, I’ve been an idiot savant sometimes in the writing process. I mean I didn’t know what the fuck I was doing. So I just kind of looked for a melody anywhere I could find it. Now it’s structured like, “Oh a fucking C chord, or a G chord,” you know? And I’m constantly playing other instruments that I don’t know how to really play well just to see if I can get some of those vibes back into what I’m doing now.
What is the favorite road restaurant on tour, Waffle House or Cracker Barrel?
Waffle House all the way, man. That’s where I learned to read by looking at the menu! (Laughs) I swear to God, at least one meal a week was coming from there when we were kids! I actually live right down the street from one now and I’m so excited because I can sneak off real quick and grab a bite before the kids wake up.
There’s way more to that interview, so you should go read the whole thing by clicking here!
I really hope you’re all having a great day out there!
