BoH Put On Hot Show In Toronto!

Band of Horses’ show in Toronto yesterday got a stellar review from Spinner reviewer Drew Berner, who said such things as the “band managed a set as scorching as the mid-afternoon sun,” remarking on the 30C/86F temperature the band endured during their set.

Mr. Berner added that “before the set was finished all eyes were fixed on the stage and plenty of casual observers had become full-on converts.”

You can check out the full review (including Ben’s super-respectful remarks on Pavement) here, but suffice to say that nothing seems to be able to slow this band down.  These guys are really burning it up (there’s my pun for today).  Of course, tonight is their last show for a couple of weeks.  I think the guys have more than earned this nice break, and I really hope they have a nice, relaxing time with friends and family!

I hope you’re doing the same out there, and that this coming week is a happy, healthy, and safe one for everybody!

Two Songs, Interview Live From Grand Central!

Wow, talk about a quick turnaround! Check out this awesome interview from Grand Central, not to mention two mindblowing performances live from the already legendary pop-up show last evening, all courtesy of the awesome folks over at Spinner! I really hope you enjoy these as much as I did–it is obvious that the guys were incredibly psyched to be performing in such an amazing venue!

Here’s the interview:

Compliments:

It’s plain to see that the guys aren’t any worse for the wear despite being on the road for so long. It still baffles me that a band can work so hard for so long and still be so upbeat, positive, and ready to rock your face off!

Hope you’re having a freakin awesome weekend!

Laredo From Secret Hollywood Cemetery Show

The good people over at 98.7 FM have done something incredibly cool, indeed. They’ve teamed up with Band of Horses to bring us a simply stunning performance of “Laredo” from the secret (and highly exclusive) Hollywood Cemetery show back in May. Just follow the instructions in the area below!

For those of you who may not have known about it, the band put on an incredible performance about this time last month at a well-known cemetery in the L.A. area.  I’m not sure of the exact amount of people that were able to go, but I know that it was a pretty exclusive gig.  So, this really is your chance to be able to get your paws (or hooves) on a pretty unique piece of music.

I really hope you enjoy it, and that your weekend is off to a great start!

Full Q TV Interview Released!

Happy day!  The full-length interview from Band of Horses’s session on the CBC’s Q was just uploaded yesterday.  Below you will find it in its entirety.  The video ends just before their gorgeous in-studio performance of “Laredo,” which you can check out by clicking here.

Also, if you will indulge me for one second, the site may experience a tiny amount of downtime in the wee hours of tomorrow or Sunday morning.  I have some updating to do that might require the site be down for about forty-five minutes or so.  I’ll make sure to do it very late at night so not to totally mess with you, but thought you’d appreciate the heads-up.  The updating will open the door to new features I’ve had in mind for a while, and will (hopefully) squash the last few bugs folks have been noticing.

Anyway, enough of me!  Here’s the video.  It’s a cool interview, and shows the guys as level-headed and positive-minded as ever.  I really hope you enjoy it, and that your Friday is a happy one!

BoH On Zane Lowe

(Thanks so much to All Sparks for pointing me in the right direction so I could make this post possible!)

Okay, here's another great interview with the guys from Band of Horses, this time coming to you from the BBC Radio One's show with Zane Lowe.  This time the guys bust out an incredible performance of “Blue Beard,” not to mention a flippin' amazing cover of JJ Cale's “Thirteen Days,” all in the midst of a funny-as-hell interview.  This is absolutely a can't miss!

One quick thing before I send you on your way:  after clicking on the link, scroll down until you see the words “Band of Horses” live.  Click on them–when you do so it will take you to the section of Zane's show about thirty seconds before the session with Band of Horses starts.  You're going to hear music that is undoubtedly not Band of Horses :) but just let it play.  You'll be fine, I promise!  Alright, here's the link.  You will definitely not be sorry!

I Learned Some Stuff Today

1) Tyler Ramsey’s thumbs are freakin awesome.
2)  Ryan Monroe can do one hell of a Neil Diamond impression.
3)  Bill Reynolds wants you to know that Band of Horses is IN THE HOUSE!
4)  Ben Bridwell really needs to organize his wallet.
5)  The video for “Blue Beard” is incredible.

How did I find all this out?  I checked out Filter Magazine’s latest issue of their online magazine, Unbound, which you should do too by clicking here.  I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and that you’re having such a wonderful day!

BoH Performances From Paul McLoone

You may remember a certain frantic post yesterday about Band of Horses performing on the Paul McLoone Show on Dublin’s Today FM.  Well, I felt really bad about posting so late in the game because I am sure most of you who read it didn’t have enough heads up to actually catch their performance.

So, this morning before I went to work, I went back to Mr. McLoone’s blog to see if I could find contact information for him.  I was going to email to see if I could get audio from yesterday’s program to share with all of you.

But what I found really made my day.  Mr. McLoone and Today FM make all of his shows available for download.  So, I downloaded the entire three-hour show, found Band of Horses’ three performances from it, and now present them to you here!

These are insanely good performances, by the way.  The guys are in great form, and though each song is impeccably performed, their performance of “No One’s Gonna Love You” is absolute magic!  You can listen to them all individually if you’d like, or you can download a .zip file (fully legal, I promise) with all three of them by clicking here.

I really hope you enjoy them, and that you are having such a great day!

NYC Show Details Announced!

Well, it looks like our suspicions about the location of the free New York City show tomorrow have been confirmed.  Per spinner.com, the show will be going down tomorrow in Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal at 6:30 PM.  The show is going to be on a first-come, first-served basis, so make sure to show up plenty early for the 5:30 door opening.  For those of you who get to go, I hope you all have such a wonderful time!  I am sure you will.

Ben & Tyler in Black Cab Session

I think this might be the most exclusive gig ever played by Ben and Tyler:  the back of a cab!

blackcabsessions.com, which features various musical talent performing in the back of, you guessed it, a black cab, posted the following video the day after Band of Horses’ sold-out, and very positively reviewed, show at the Roundhouse.

I really hope you enjoy this sweet performance of this website’s namesake, “Ode to LRC,” and that your Wednesday is shaping up to be a great one!
